X-Men

X-Men Edit

Aka X men

(2000, United States)   |   |   |   |   |   |   |

( fr ) X-Men is a 2000 American action movie, featuring a group of comic book superheroes called the X-Men. It formed a major part of the current revival in comic-book adaptation movies. The movie was directed by Bryan Singer and explores the ideas of prejudice and discrimination in the United States. The screenplay was written by David Hayter (who has a cameo appearance in the film as a police officer in the Statue of Liberty area). A sequel, X2: X-Men United, was released in 2003 and a third film, X-Men: The Last Stand, was released in 2006. The film franchise also brought up interest in a Wolverine-centered film and a Magneto-centered film.

Zak Penn Talks Continuity For Avengers Movie
Screenwriter Zak Penn has long been attached to Marvel's Avengers movie, and he's recently begun talking about the project, if only a little bit. SciFiWire quotes him from a panel at the Los Angeles Film Festival, where he spoke briefly about one of the most daunting aspects of the project: continuity. The backdrop to this story is Penn's work on the X-Men movies, where he wanted to bring in other characters controlled by Fox, such as the Fantastic Four. But the studio balked; another great Fox decision! Marvel's approach couldn't be more different, as made evident by the fact that with Iron Man, Captain America and Thor in theaters by the time The Avengers hits in 2012, the team movie will effectively be one massive crossover story. It is a world of difference, says Penn. It is a lot easie [Read more]

Zak Penn Talks About Collaborating for The Avengers Movie
There's been quite a bit of talk about The Avengers recently, mainly coming from Marvel Studio's Kevin Feige, but there is one person we haven't heard from in a while - screenwriter Zak Penn. Penn has been attached as the screenwriter of Marvel's Avengers movie for a long time, and now that it's slated for 2012, he's starting to work on it (again). Penn appeared on a panel as part of the Los Angeles Film Festival last night and SciFi Wire has a report on some of the things he said in relation to The Avengers. He's meeting with Marvel and the screenwriters of the other big upcoming movies to piece together the storylines. They're doing Captain American and Thor first, and then Avengers is coming out, Penn said. They want to see that they're all connected, not like the Fantastic Four can't co [Read more]

Bryan Singer Fancies Another Go At The X-Men And Superman
Total Film has an interview with Bryan Singer in their latest issue to promote the UK release of Valkyrie on DVD and Blu-Ray. Inevitably, the conversation turned to the two big superhero franchise he's already contributed to - Superman and X-Men. His quotes on both are after the break.Let's tidy up the Superman business first. Here's Singer on the perennial gossip that he's going to step back up for a sequel to Superman Returns:I don't know, I don't know. There are still issues. I just don't know. I don't necessarily...I don't know. It's one of those things where...It's so weird talking about stuff unless I'm about to ramp up and shoot it.Sounds to me like he's still involved with the prospective film in some capacity, perhaps only in fighting the studio to give him another shot? Could he [Read more]

Could Bryan Singer Return for More Superhero Movies?
Don't get your hopes up. After the dismal debut of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, I started to think back to the older X-Men movies, and I realized the only reason they were as great as they were is because Bryan Singer had directed them. I know Valkyrie wasn't as widely appreciated as most of his past movies, but I love Singer, he's an amazing director who just gets better as time goes on. Anyway, when Total Film talked with Singer recently (via The Geek Files blog), they asked him about his thoughts on X-Men 3 and if he might ever return to the comic book movie world to direct something like, say, X-Men Origins: Magneto.Singer was asked if he wished he had directed X-Men 3, and he admitted that he had that feeling before I was watching it, during watching it, after watching it. He continues: [Read more]

Now that you've seen it, what did you think? It's now May 1st, which means the summer movie season has arrived, and this year's opener is another superhero movie - X-Men Origins: Wolverine. We all know Wolverine is a badass character, but the big question is if they really did the best they could've with his origin story or if this is another mess on par with X-Men 3? Were fan favorites Gambit and Deadpool just as awesome? An entertaining action extravaganza? Or was this a screw up from start to finish? Sound off below, leave your thoughts, and let us know what you thought of X-Men Origins: Wolverine!Note: Any reviews or comments on this movie based on the bootlegged workprint will be immediately removed without notification. Box Office: Wolverine Could Claw to $92 Million Opening Weekend, A Huge Start to Summer Blockbuster Season
The great thing about a sequel is that it has a built-in audience. The problem with sequels is that, as the numbers after the title go up, so does the production budget. Very hard to know for sure, but sources have told me that the production budget for X-Men was in the $75M range. X-2: [...] [Read more]

Starting All Over Again With an X-Men: First Class Franchise
So with X-Men Origins: Wolverine set to kick off the summer in a few weeks, you'd expect Fox or Marvel to actually want to continue the X-Men series. We've heard of an X-Men Origins: Magneto for a while now, but that project seems to have slowly disappeared into development hell. So what's next? If Wolverine is as big as we're all hearing, it'll be proof to Hollywood that the X-Men aren't dead yet [Read more]

X-Men: First Class is a Prequel, NOT a Spin-Off
When we first heard about X-Men: First Class, Gossip Girl/Chuck/O.C. creator Josh Schwartz had been hired to write a screenplay that focused on “the other teenage characters attending the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning.” But apparently the project is not a spin-off, but a full on X-Men prequel. Smell the Coffee: We never outgrow our heroes
The older I get, the more my dad seems to come out in me. I've adopted his fearlessness with what I'll take on (although I lack his capacity to complete what I start). Like Dad, I can putter around in the yard for hours on end. So long as I'm outdoors, I'm content. And to follow Dad's lead, I've never been motivated by money or position; shiny, pricey things have little appeal; and I'd rather be home than anywhere else. [Read more]

Thriller please
Thriller please The turn-out at this one was unexpectedly good. Even though the screening continued till after midnight, the special invitees  stayed back to watch the movie. “I don’t want to stay back and pose for you guys because I don’t even want to miss one scene there,” said Ranvir Shourey as he rushed into the hall with two popcorns in hand. On the other hand Ayub Khan was happily posing till his friends pulled him into the theatre. For X-Men fans, the movie was a treat.Short and simple: [Read more]
