It was first released in the USA on March 31, 1999, and is the first entry in the Matrix series of films, comics, video games and animation.

John Gaeta Talks About Ninja Assassin with Boing Boing
In one of the few times we'll ever link to the website Boing Boing, they've posted a new interview with visual effects supervisor John Gaeta. While he's best known for his work on The Matrix trilogy and Speed Racer, Gaeta also worked on James McTeigue's Ninja Assassin, which is (oddly) the focus of the interview. It's odd because we still haven't seen a trailer or anything else for the movie, so I don't know why they randomly have an interview with Gaeta about it, but they do. There's not much new footage to be seen in this, but it's a good watch for those who are fans of Gaeta's work or interested in Ninja Assassin. I Am Optimus Prime - Childrens Book - IDW
Worse than the philosophical implications, it's really distracting. Case in point, half this review is about his random inclusion. It's the elephant in the book. In their attempt to retcon Drift into continuity via this stripped down iteration of the Transformers, all IDW has done is illuminate how out of place Drift still is.
