( fr ) Pushing Daisies is an 2007-2008 American television dramedy created by Bryan Fuller. Described as a "forensic fairy tale", Pushing Daisies is about a pie-maker with the power to bring the dead back to life. In July 2008, Pushing Daisies was nominated for twelve Emmy awards, including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (Lee Pace), Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (Kristin Chenoweth), and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series (Bryan Fuller). It won three, for Outstanding Direction of a Comedy Series (Barry Sonnenfeld), Outstanding Original Score (Jim Dooley), and Outstanding Editing of a Comedy Series. The second season premiered on October 1, 2008. As ratings declined, ABC opted not to order additional episodes beyond the second season's initial thirteen. By November 20, 2008, Fuller had confirmed that ABC had cancelled Pushing Daisies, though he also mentioned the possibility of wrapping up storylines in a comic book series or a movie.

Pushing Daisies Gets an Overseas Reprieve
While stateside Pushing Daisies fans will likely have to wait until the show's second and final season is released on DVD on July 21 to know how the series wraps up, die-hard fans might want to plan a vacation to England for a few weeks this spring. The British television network ITV has announced that they will air all thirteen episodes of the quirky critical smash's second season, whereas ABC cu [Read more]

A lifelong Tampa resident, Wilson directed and wrote Rhapsody, which she called 'Pushing Daisies' meets Dr. Suess. At its heart, it's a boy meets girl story. But the twist is this — everyone within the movie wears clothes of a certain color, denoting that they can only experience one emotion (blue for sad, red for angry, yellow for happy, green for envious, etc.) In the film, a blue boy named Charlie (Nick Horan) and a yellow girl named Sadie (Shannan Stewart) learn to experience a ra [Read more]

Grass isn't always greener ...
- Pushing Daisies died long before its time. The season -- now series -- finale of this gentle, sweet-tempered fable airs tonight for the first, and likely last, time. The episode, Kerplunk, finds the Darling Mermaid Darlings (Ellen Greene, Swoosie Kurtz) investigating the unfortunate end of one half of the synchronized swimming duo, The Aquadolls (guest stars Nora Dunn and Wendie Malick). After tonight, Pushing Daises goes to DVD heaven. (10 p.m., ABC, channel 7, cable 8) [Read more]

The art and tendency for comics to continue what tv and movies
Long enough title? I was originally going to go with 'when the pawn hits the conflict...' but you know, that was taken. Anyway, recently while reading Comic Shop News I saw a blurb about abc's (former) show PUSHING DAISIES being picked up by DC as a comic to continue the series. I blogged here before about the show - a wonderful little storytelling gem I dismissed at first (sorry Mike and Amy) then was surprised as hell to like so much after watching the first season on DVD, finally overcome by [Read more]

Pop Talk: Portland's Fave Netflix Pix -- and More!
If you missed it -- and based on the ratings, maybe you did -- Pushing Daisies was a blend of whimsy, fantasy, deadpan humor and that impossible-to-manufacture quality, charm. Lee Pace starred as Ned, who has the ability to bring dead things back to life -- but only if he never touches them again. If he does, they immediately drop dead again. Which was a problem, since Ned revived his lifelong love, Chuck (Friel). But they're in love, anyway, despite the no-touching thing. The story also inclu [Read more]
