( fr ) Pulp Fiction is a 1994 American crime film by director Quentin Tarantino, who cowrote its screenplay with Roger Avary. The film is known for its rich, eclectic dialogue, ironic mix of humor and violence, nonlinear storyline, and host of cinematic and pop culture references. The film was nominated for seven Oscars, including Best Picture; Tarantino and Avary won for Best Original Screenplay. It was also awarded the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. A major commercial success, it revitalized the career of its leading man, John Travolta, who received an Academy Award nomination, as did costars Samuel L. Jackson and Uma Thurman.

Producer Puts Scorsese Sequel Straight Onto The Torrents
Tommy Pallotta, producer of Waking Life and A Scanner Darkly, has released his new film, American Prince, directly into the bit torrent file-sharing community. The film is a sequel to Martin Scorsese's little-seen documentary American Boy, which amounted to almost an hour of actor Steven Prince telling tales, reportedly true tales from his life, to a small audience of friends. One of these stories was used in Pallotta's Waking Life, in fact - retold by Prince and then converted to the digitally rotoscoped style of that film. Another formed the basis for one of the most memorable scenes in Pulp Fiction, and I'll include Prince's version of that story at the bottom of the post.Pallotta has told Torrent Freak that he sourced much of the archive material used in American Prince from the intern [Read more]

Okay Okay, Quentin Tarantino Has a Foot Fetish, We Get It!
As if you couldn't tell from the lingering shots of Uma Thurman's dogs in Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill, Quentin Tarantino made sure his audiences know he's a Foot Man by training the camera on Sydney Tamiia Poitier's toesies for a few long stretches in Death Proof. And now, in this weekend's T magazine, Quentin is photographed fondling Diane Kruger's feet AND wearing pumps of his own. If you ask us, Quentin's foot fetish is getting to the point where it makes Troy McClure's fish fetish look tame by comparison. Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds Confirmed for Cannes!
At the Cannes Film Festival last year, Quentin Tarantino boldly stated that he would be back next year with Inglourious Basterds in hand. Of course, we all took that statement as his word that he would actually make the movie, which did happen. But I always thought that was a bit of a crazy thing to say, unless he had someone inside that had already guaranteed him his admittance before he had even [Read more]

DIY projects
If anything, Pulp Fiction is a survey of a do-it-yourself scene in Canadian art that has flourished across North America in recent years, outside the sanctified realms of the art world proper. By this, I mean most museums (because they're afraid of unknowns), commercial galleries (because they're leery of artists without Masters of Fine Arts degrees) and artist-run centres, which, even in their function as parallel spaces, have limits – entirely apolitical doodling, for one, apparently, [Read more]

Vishal adds B'wood masala to his characters
He?sbrilliantly given Bollywood a Shakespearian twist (remember Maqbool which wasinspired from Macbeth and Omkara from Othello), so we thought his taste inmovies would be somewhat on those lines. But Vishal Bharadwaj surprisedus when he said that he liked the ?caper? genre, and added, ?Areal caper genre has never been done in India before. Pulp Fiction
Bookmark Sat. June 13, 11:45 p.m. Pulp Fiction at Uptown Theatre In the 15 years since it changed the face of independent cinema, Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction has spawned many direct (and often lousy) imitations, but its puzzle structure, unabashed affection for genre, and dazzling style still seem fresh and inspiring. Told in mixed-up chronology, the three interlocking stories concern a memorable “date” between a hitman (John Travolta) and his boss’ wife (Uma [Read more]
