Kenny Anderson left a year later after his sophomore season, becoming the No. 2 selection by the NBA. Both players say today that they wanted to stay at Georgia Tech for another season. But the people they turned to for advice, including coach Bobby Cremins, looked at their draft status as top-5 p [Read more]

Jon Buzby: It's time to take a rest
Finally … a week with no youth sports. At least for most of you. What in the heck are you going to do with yourself? And I'm talking to both players and parents.I always make it a policy the first full week after a long youth sports season to not take part in any type of activity involving the sport just completed. And preferably not in any sports activities at all, unless it's as a spectator. My kid always needed a break, and quite frankly, so did his parents.Make every effort to eat dinn [Read more]

Educator inspires love of reading
Her efforts are evident just by walking the school's halls or into the principal's office. Allen has a full book stand in his office to present a book to every Sandshore student on their birthday. A giant bookworm made of paper snakes across the school's front lobby, into the cafeteria and into the fourth- and fifth-grade wing with more than 1,000 round body parts labeled with book titles students read this year. And until recently, a paper football field was created on a hallway wall with stude [Read more]
