Ryuukuro Hall of fame  Does (almost) everyone on this site love Miyazaki and Ghibli, or is he just better known than I thought? I know that the French (you lucky dogs) are more aware of him but he's still a cult figure in America and, I assume, the rest of the anglophonic world.

rocko Hall of fame  Miyasaki is one of the best directors, animators, and Imaginators =) if that exists, that has existed, I really like his films, specially Princess Monoke and Kiki's delivery service, among almost every movie that has been done by him ^^, this is a MUST SEE ^^, oh and Joe Hisaishi, the one that makes the soundtracks for the movies is awesome as well

Second Alternate Trailer for Hayao Miyazaki's Ponyo
Just last week, Disney debuted the official US trailer for Ponyo, the newest Hayao Miyazaki film hitting theaters here fairly soon. However, I feel like the trailer got lost in the mix last week, with the debut of Transformers 2 and everything. Additionally, Disney has released a slightly different version of that same trailer that includes an extended segment in the middle highlighting the actors they hired to voice this US release of the film. Drew McWeeny at HitFix just reviewed it: Ponyo is a singular experience, animation as pure emotion, a love story and an adventure and one of the real treats for 2009 so far. I hope you enjoy!Watch the alternate trailer for Hayao Miyazaki's Ponyo:[flv:http://media2.firstshowing.net/firstshowing/Ponyo_Trl1_CC_High.flv http://media2.firstshowing.net/f [Read more]

Will Hayao Miyazaki Appear at Comic-Con?
When I first heard that Legendary Japanese filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki would be making a very rare trip to North America, to my neck of the woods - the bay area, to appear, accept a prize, premiere his new film and participate in a Q & A on July 25th, I screamed out loud. It wasn't a scream of joy, like it should have been... it was a scream of annoyance. As CartoonBrew put it, Miyazaki so rarely travels to the US, and even less so to make public appearances. And July 25th is the same weekend I'll be traveling down to San Diego for Comic Con.  In the days that followed, something occurred to me -- why would Miyazaki be making an around the world trip just to appear at Berkeley?Unless he's making the trip for a bigger reason? Miyazaki's new film Ponyo is set to be released in the ... [Read more]

Of all the weekends to pick, why did they pick Comic Con weekend? Check This Out: Hayao Miyazaki's Ponyo on the Cliff Poster
Ah yes, Hayao Miyazaki, one of the great filmmakers of all time. I'm excited to see his latest film, known in Japan as Ponyo on the Cliff, even though it's a little more kid friendly than his last few films. Disney is bringing it to theaters here in August, and they've lined up a hell of cast for the English voiceover (although I personally prefer to just watch it with subtitles instead). Anyway, our friends at Ain't It Cool News have debuted the official US poster today as well as a first look photo (seen above). Not that we haven't seen anything from this before, but I'm excited to feature anything from Miyazaki, especially from Ponyo. You can find more info on this movie at the official website: ghibli.jp/ponyo.An animated adventure centered on a 5-year-old boy and his relationship with [Read more]
