THIS… DOESN’T… SOUND REAL…
Al Pacino has signed on for Barry Levinson’s You Don’t Know Jack… an HBO biopic about Jack Kevorkian.  Now, try not to think of an “assisted suicide” joke as it relates to Pacino’s career.  Impossible, right?Kevorkian, also known as Dr. Death [Editor's Note: ...], assisted in more than 150 cases of suicide and had beaten [...] [Read more]

Coroner: Danny Gans died accidentally
Murphy said Gans had heart disease caused by high blood pressure — which makes the heart work overtime and left him more susceptible to heart irregularities. Gans also had a condition (polycythemia) that results in too many red blood cells, Murphy said. (The condition is the opposite of anemia.) [Read more]

Policy in haste
Proponents say the report doesn't tell the whole story. And maybe they're right. But even if the tax credits could be shown to be a net positive for the Advertisementstate economy, the fact is they were introduced in haste and championed by officials who had no idea of their true long-term impact. It was enough, apparently, to get the passing thrill of seeing a movie star. [Read more]

Curbed Inside: Choose Your Own Apthorp Adventure!
The coverage of the Apthorp's many scandals over the past few years has been a wild and crazy ride, but visually dull. The stories are always accompanied by photos of the Upper West Side landmark's limestone facade, or arched gates, or serene interior courtyard. Pretty, but tired. What about the apartments—the sprawling, pre-war masterpieces that stretch to double-digit rooms and have attracted the likes Al Pacino, Conan O'Brien, Nora Ephron and more over a century of serving as the city's [Read more]

In some films, Joey Gallo is painted as a renaissance man. In your mind, is Joey Gallo really a renaissance man who was born a gangster and evolved out of that street persona, or did he become a renaissance man later in life?Well, he was diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic, and I'm not sure whether or not that's true, but I think he had two forces going on in his brain. On one end he's raised in this world ... I think there's one FBI report that said his father trained the boys to be killers; [Read more]

Asking prices on the condominiums fell to an average of $1,950 a square foot from $2,400 to $3,000, at least for the buyers of the first 25 or so apartments that must be sold before the condo plan can be declared effective.
